Terms of service
Last updated October 5, 2026. The short, plain version of how this works.
01The agreement
These terms cover your use of EnvStash — the website at envstash.co, the dashboard, and the envs command-line tool (together, "the service"). By using the service you agree to them. If you use it on behalf of a company, you are agreeing for that company.
02Early access
The service is in early access. Features may change or be removed, and parts of what the website describes as "roadmap" do not exist yet. We will try to give notice before a change that breaks how you use the service, but early access means we cannot promise it.
03Your account
- You sign in through GitHub or Google and are responsible for keeping that account secure.
- You are responsible for the machines you sign in with the CLI. Revoke a device from the dashboard if it is lost or no longer yours.
- Tell us promptly if you believe your account or a device token has been compromised.
04Your content
The env files and values you push remain yours. You give us permission to store them and return them to machines you have signed in — nothing more. You are responsible for having the right to store what you push, including any credentials that belong to a third party.
05Acceptable use
- Do not use the service to store material you have no right to hold.
- Do not attempt to access another person’s account or data.
- Do not probe, overload, or disrupt the service, or work around its rate limits.
- Security research is welcome when it is done in good faith against your own account and reported to us privately.
06Keep your own copy
The service is a convenience for moving env files between machines, not a system of record. Keep a backup of anything you cannot afford to lose. If the encryption key protecting stored values were ever lost, those values could not be recovered.
07Price
Early-access pricing is shown on the homepage and arranged by email.
08Ending things
You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk.
09No warranty
The service is provided as is. We work hard to keep it secure and available, and the homepage describes the specific measures in place, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of it.
10Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date above changes when we do, and continued use after a change means you accept it. Questions go to hello@envstash.co.
